I’m Not Overweight, Just Fat
According to this chart (click to view), I’m well within my weight range for my height and age [36 years old, 5 feet 10 inches and 168 pounds]. My ideal weight is 167 lbs and my maximum weight is 174 lbs. When I tell people I need to drop a few pounds, I get the screw face, looked up and down and dismissed! I’m not obsessed with being thin, I think my weight is okay, I just want my clothes back. For me, a 15-20lb weight gain wipes out 75% of my wardrobe!
So I have some lifestyle changes to make because frankly, I’m tired of crap not fitting anymore, buying new clothes doesn’t address the problem! I want to be able to bend over without my pouch getting in the way. I’m tired of looking for creative ways to tie my sneakers. I want to wear a belt and tuck my shirts in again!
On my side bar, I will be tracking my weight loss until June 30th. I plan to lose at least 15lbs of fat, this might help me with being able to get into my pants again and buttoning them up. Right now, my goal is to exercise at least 4 times a week, make better food choices and drink more water. If you want to express something that worked for you, please share it with me. Thanks.

Well, I’m off the charts, literally. I won’t say here what my weight is, but let’s just say I’m pretty unhappy about it. What worked for me 4 years ago was LA Weight Loss. The difference between that plan and any other is that you had to have a weigh-in 3x a week and that kept me honest. I always wanted to see a loss, and so I never cheated.
Good luck with your efforts! I’m rooting for you!

p.s. I just realized when I see what “Kathy’s last post” is that that’s kind of my problem. Bacon is the food of the gods, but it packs on the pounds like nobody’s business. I’m hopeless.

Hey Kathy,
Oops, I just broke two rules in the woman’s handbook…never tell your age and your weight, but I need help here. Well my low-budget version of weight watchers is that little tracker over there. I’m going to either watch my weight go up or down…I am going to try harder and stop whining. I need my clothes back..nothing to wear. I love bacon too. I have it 3-4 times a week. I should probably cut back. Tomorrow I will look for some recipes that are not too fattening.
Robert,
I used to be able to eat anything I want, for years…could not gain a pound. Now I gain weight if I smell food. Really, I’m going to have to wear fig leaves for clothes if I keep this up. I have to change my eating habits.

And this why I adore you and your blog… You are SO real. Most women would never have said their age, let alone their weight!
Good luck with your weight loss, you can do it! I am also on my own weight loss venture to lose what feels like a million pounds before I turn 35. Ugh.

I don’t know why I don’t have hang-ups with telling my age..it’s better than the alternative I guess. My weight? Well I don’t care about that either. If I could fit into my clothes, it wouldn’t be an issue, but I can’t, so I have to do something else. It won’t be easy either, I already want chocolate.
Thanks. I’m right there with you!

Hey Lana,
You are so right! I’m not giving up cheesecake, it’s one of my favorite desserts. I love chocolate and cookies, but I am going to limit how much of those treats I eat…woman can’t live on junk alone.
I do care about my looks and being comfortable in clothing that fits, so I want to do better!

Hi Binary Blonde – I’m fine with my weight, but not the fat. I’m wondering if that makes sense? Something has to go, the extra fat or my clothes…the fat lost, it has to go! Thanks Binary!
Hey Abigail Road – lol, so you understand. I’m too tall to lose inches in the lengths of my pants because of the weight gain. Imagine not being able to button your pants and you have on high waters, lol. Not a pretty picture. So I’m on it. Thanks for your encouragement!

Funny, I just posted on my looks too. So here’s what I sugguest. About going to the gym – it depends on what you’re doing there because it’s so easy to say I’m going to the gym but doing nothing. Weight training 2-3x’s a week, Cardio and a stretcing class of some sort. Eat in moderation but do not deny yourself anything, you’ll only eat more if you do. I also have an extreme way of doing things which depends on how dedicated and serious you are but I know that you’re sane. Good luck, might need to join you on your quest.

Tondy, we are of the same mind then. Thanks for your suggestions Tondy. I packed my gym bag for tomorrow, so I’m ready. Usually I do cardio and weights.
I say everything, in moderation! I’ve been on a see food tear, I see food and I eat it. I know better than to deny myself anything for fear I’ll be found in the grocery isle surrounded by cookies and crumbs.
Nothing extreme, I’m going to take it slow, try to be a little more active on a regular basis, pick fruit over cakes and cookies more often, but still have the cookie once in a while and drink more water, with plenty of rest. We’ll see what happens.

I am overweight, 5’10 at 198 pounds now. I was 205. Recently I quit smoking, hurray. I started my exercise plan with this glider I have bought. Twenty minutes daily, along with stretching exercises. I have started to watch what I eat, and how I eat. I engaged in eating more fish in my diet plan, along with other things. My goal weight is 185. I figure by summer I’ll be there. I love to eat that is the main thing. Exercise has to be in my daily ritual with one day off of the week, Sundays. Nice blog! Stopped in for a visit.

Paige, I’m not doing so well with my weight loss, I know it’s because of chocolate and cookies. A few things threw my off schedule at the gym, busy at work, sickness at home, tired, cranky…I’ll get back on track. I can do the 30 minutes a day, but I don’t think I want my butt on fire.

4 laxatives? Did that hurt? I’m not in that kind of rush or anything. I think I may give something else a try to help me not crave sweets so much….I saw this hypnotist on Ellen, no I’m not trying that..but he used a technique that I think could work, maybe. In the meantime, I need to stay active and make better food choices. No sugar? Right. I’ve been using Equal, sometimes.

Hi, Same problem no solution. All of a sudden I started gaining weight 2 pounds here 1 pound there. It wouldn’t be such a big deal except it hasn’t stopped in about a year. I’m afraid it will just keep going. Has anyone found anything that works to get rid of that stubborn belly fat. (You know the all of a sudden I’m over 40 tummy blubber). Thank god for the low rise jeans and the in style maternity looking tops. If anyone has found any exercise plan that works let me know.

PS. I’m 5’4″ 132 Up 10 pounds from last year and almost 45.

Vicky I don’t know..I just got back from Baskin Robbins and their 31 cent a scoop night. Oppps, that could be part of my problem, sweets. I don’t know..I did see a drop in my weight..could just be water recently when I changed what I ate just a little. I stopped eating waffles every morning and toned down my bread intake. My weight is okay, but it’s the belly fat I would like to slim down even just a little bit.

Oh man I hear you on this one. I have this one dress that I just love but if I gain so much as 5 pounds I can just forget about wearing it. I love sweets so I am going to have to get a grip on that because according to this chart I am over by like 50 something pounds. It is just not fair but some how I will manage to get my weight under control. Fortunately I think it is my muscle that is putting me at the overweight range because I am only a size 12. Thanks for the tips.

Camilla, I still have not lost the weight. I’m trying it again….like I said the weight is fine, but not the fat. My mid-section needs a lot of toning and slimming down. You would never know looking at me, unless you could see me now (snickering), but the fat is there. I’ve been exercising at lunch time.
I love sweets too, no control really. Oh well, I’ll just keep trying…
BTW, I’m a 12 as well.

Have you found anything that helps with the food cravings? I too am NOT overweight (5’6″ 145 lbs. female, age 50) but I can’t wear my clothes anymore without my belly hanging over the top of my pants. I seems that the extra 5-8 pounds that I have sits right in my belly area. I walk a lot and feel that I am fit, but I just can’t get rid of the belly fat? What works? specifically for this area? I don’t really want to reduce my food intake too much, I just want to know what foods are going directly to my belly area. Do you think cutting out all “Whites” like potatoes and bread can help this area? This has been a problem ever since I turned 45. Thanks.

Cutie, I have not. Tried chewing gum, maybe that helped with not wanting to put everything in my mouth, temporarily.
I heard anything white is bad for you on the food chain, wheat is better. Breads, sugar, etc. I don’t know and can’t really tell ya. I love all the white foods. My front area is my biggest problem. I guess we need to find out which foods rev our metabolism and then some exercise. That’s all I want to do, eat foods that will help and a little exercise.
I gotta go pack my gym bag. Hey when I exercise I do make better food choices then when I’m not exercising. Maybe that will help?

I know what you mean , I love food , and my waistline really suffer for it especially that the holidays are fast approaching. And it doesn’t help that I have a nasty sweet tooth
The best thing I can do is practice a little restraint and do more physical activities to compensate.
